Here are my top 5 reasons why I hate the buetooth:
#1 – It looks stu
pid. Take a look below. How lame-o do these people look?
#2 – It’s ugly. Seeing these is just like seeing a woman walk into any public place with curlers still in her hair. You want to screech at her “Have you no pride??” It's so irritating!
#3 – It’s arrogant. It seems to me to display an abominable sort of conceit and arrogance to walk around with these things attached to your ear. Remember Grumpy Old Man from Saturday Night Live? Remember his voice when he would say “Hey, look at me! I am sliding down a mountain with dead people strapped to my feet!” When I see someone wearing a bluetooth, I feel like they are shouting (in their best Grumpy Old Man Ranting voice): “Hey, look at me! I keep up with technology! I don’t need no fancy hand-held phone. I’m hands-free!”
#4 – It reminds me of Lobot from Star Wars. Remember him? He was Lando Calrissian’s right hand guy. He had this computer thingy in his head (a cyborg implant that wrapped around the back of his head allowing his brain to be connected to a computer, allowing him to communicate directly with Cloud City's central computer core). Take a look. Do you not see the similarities???
Normally anything reminding me of Star Wars makes me happy. But not this. It just ticks me off.
#5 – Seriously, it’s UGLY. These people look like morons!!! And have you noticed that most people who wear the bluetooth are guys and that these guys are usually bald or else have very short hair cut close to the head. Why is that??? Doesn't it almost look like a giant insect is crawling out of your ear? Who wants that? Gross!!!

The appraiser who came to my house today was wearing/using a bluetooth. I am so behind....I didn't even know they were called bluetooths. Or is it blueteeth?
Anyway, he walked through my whole house, wrote down stuff that looked imortant, asked questions that may have been important all while wearing that head gear. Lame-o.
And yes, George Lucas should be proud that his props from Star Wars are being emulated in the real world. Good comparison.
This is the latest in the trend of isolation in our culture. It is no longer acceptable to walk around with a purpose and say "hi" to complete strangers as you pass by.
Now you must be wired into "the network" via bluetooth-enabled cell phones, crack (a-hum) blackberries, and the list goes on. We aren't an interactive society, but rather a group of isolated individuals who choose when they interact and only with those they can interact with via some electronic device!!
I hate these things. I hope they prove that they cause brain damage.
I'm a cashier at a Trader Joe's, and I HATE blueteeth... but I also hate just plain old rude cell phone behavior, hand-held or otherwise. But, when I ring up a person who is wearing a bluetooth, I can't take them seriously.
We have turned into a nation of kids with pointless toys. Like you say, there is NO POINT in wearing a hands-free device 24/7, on the off chance that a call just might come through. The bluetooth has become the fashion accessory for modern day idiots.
It sure beats driving like a moron because a cellphone is attached to the head. LOL>
I only wear when driving though. I won't wear in the store because then it looks like I'm talking to myself.
When i used to work at Stater Bros, this one customer was always talking on a headset, I think it was before bluetooth. But you couldnt see it. And he talked loud so he looked like he was crazy and walking through the store talking to himself.
My coworker always wears his, it auto answers the phone, so half the time I dont know if he is talking to me or if he's on the phone.
I hate it simply because it rarely works, is probably the world's most frustrating piece of technology.
The phone companies should be condemned for keeping this crappy technology alive.
